It is the story of Elizabeth, Russian Empress, who though born as a princess, free to pursue her passions, ends up having everything snatched away from her when her mother dies. She becomes penniless and powerless – living her mother’s story in reverse, from riches to rags. But what those who took everything from her don’t know is that she will fight to get it back – though isolated and impoverished, a woman in a man’s Russia, Elizabeth doesn’t give up, and so this is a story of fighting against the odds.
I really enjoyed this Historical Fiction novel set in Russia. I’m not really knowledgable when it comes to the history of Russia and I found this book very interesting. You can definitely read this as a stand-alone too, but I can’t wait to dive into book 1 just to get a bit more background on Elizabeth. This book definitely gripped me and I was sat on the edge of my seat wanting to just devour the book. Roll on book 3 is all I can say.
Thank you to Becky from Bloomsbury for sending me books 1 and 2 of this fabulous series and for letting me take part in the tour.
